The fact that you are reading this means you are looking for more information for yourself or perhaps, for someone you care about. It tells me that you are resourceful and have taken the first step toward healing and growth. If you are a survivor, you need to know that your symptoms do not have to define you, you do not have to live in the past and both your brain and body can heal. I invite you to utilize the resources that I have gained thru specialized training. Together, we can work toward helping you to regain a sense of peace, live in and enjoy the present and create a more hopeful future.

Goodness of Fit

While I specialize in the treatment of trauma, I encourage you to take advantage of my expertise in developing resources for community/life transitions, anxiety, depression, stress management, compassion fatigue and complex needs.  We can work together to develop skills that deal with self-harm, attachment, abuse/neglect, coping and self-regulation. 

Therapeutic Approach

My approach to therapy is client-centered, strength based and eclectic. I believe in the capacity for change and enhancing the resilience that each one of us has.  As a team, we will utilize therapeutic resources that meet your individual needs and your personal goals. Our first session will be very simple. I will learn about what brings you in, your strengths and things that matter to you and you will learn more about what sorts of approaches will be beneficial in moving you toward your goals.  Together, we will develop a plan that will help you to see results in both a safe and effective manner.

Therapeutic Partnership

When we begin to work together, we will start off with developing resources that can make the work of therapy and just life in general, easier to navigate. We will work at your pace and will process your experiences as your own ability to heal grows.  I know that you are the only one who knows what your experience is and how you have been impacted. My job is to help establish safety and develop enough security for us to move toward resolution.

Specialized Training and Therapeutic Interventions

I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and have earned certification as an Expert Trauma Professional and also in Critical Incident Response. Both EMDR and TF-CBT are recognized as Category A Treatments in the 2011 VA/DoD Guidelines for Treating PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). FIT (Feedback Informed Therapy), is a really great evidence based practice that will help us to achieve more open communication. As your partner, it will be important for me to know what is working for you and what isn't. We may also utilize body centered psychotherapy approaches, various crisis intervention models, as well as self-care, compassion and acceptance approaches.
